MS-2272 Implementing and Supporting Microsoft Windows XP Professional

Students will have the knowledge and skills necessary to install and configure Microsoft Windows XP Professional on stand-alone and client computers that are part of a workgroup or domain.
Recommended Prerequisites: Students should have the following knowledge and skills prior to starting the course. Proficiency using the Windows interface to locate, create and manipulate folders and files and to configure the desktop environment. General knowledge of computer hardware components, including: memory, hard disks, central processing units, networking concepts, network operating system, server-client relationship, and local area network (LAN). Knowledge of the fundamentals of networking technology. Experience with Windows 2000.
MS-2273 Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment

This course will introduce students to Microsoft Windows 2003 Server. They will learn how to install and administer Active Directory services and how to manage Active Directory objects. Students will use Microsoft Management Console to monitor system performance, to administer Internet Information Services, and to administer user accounts, group accounts, and group policies.
Recommended Prerequisites: Students should have the following knowledge and skills prior to starting the course. In some cases it may be possible for a student to acquire this knowledge and these skills through additional study during the course. Knowledge of the fundamentals of networking technology. Ability to navigate the Windows operating system interface (preferably the Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, or Windows 2000 interface). Previous training or knowledge of Windows 2000.
MS-2277 Implementing a Microsoft Windows 2003 Network Infrastructure

This course is for support professionals who are new to Microsoft Windows XP and will be responsible for installing, configuring, managing, and supporting a network infrastructure that uses the Microsoft Windows 2003 Server products. It also provides students with the prerequisite knowledge and skills required for course 2159.
Recommended Prerequisites: Successful completion of course 2273, Supporting Windows XP Professional and Server, or equivalent skills and knowledge, including the ability to: Install or upgrade to Windows 2003, Configure the Windows 2003 environment, Connect Windows 2003-based client computers to networks, Create and manage user accounts, Manage data by configuring the NTFS file system, Provide network access to file resources, Configure and manage disks and partitions, Implement Windows 2003 security. Define the components of a Windows 2003 Network infrastructure.
- MS-2278 Planning and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure

The goal of this five-day course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to plan and maintain a Windows® Server 2003 network infrastructure.
Recommended Prerequisites: Before attending this course, students must have completed MS2276.

This five-day instructor-led course includes self-paced and instructor-facilitated components. It provides students with the knowledge and skills to successfully plan, implement, and troubleshoot a Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003 Active Directory® directory service infrastructure. The course focuses on a Windows Server 2003 directory service environment, including forest and domain structure, Domain Name System (DNS), site topology and replication, organizational unit structure and delegation of administration, Group Policy, and user, group, and computer account strategies.
Recommended Prerequisites: Before attending this course, students must have completed MS2278.
- MS-2282 Designing a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Active Directory and Network Infrastructure

This instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills to design a Microsoft Active Directory® directory service and network infrastructure for a Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003 environment. The course is intended for systems engineers who are responsible for designing directory service and/or network infrastructures.
Recommended Prerequisites: This course requires that students meet the following prerequisites MS2278 and MS2279.
